IB and IGSCE Coursework
Today, art in school has evolved from mere pretty pictures to adorn school walls to helping children develop an independent style of expression.
The IB and IGSCE Visual Arts programme is thought-provoking and inspires students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries.
As a facilitator in this process, my role is to help students improve their critical thinking skills and creative problem solving in addition to exploring and comparing visual arts from different contexts.

Labeling
“Labels are for filing. Labels are for clothing. Labels are not for people.”
- Martina Navratilova
“Seeking to recognise and celebrate each person’s individuality, I chose to use my artwork to highlight the social issue of labelling. It’s time we realise that you and I are not points on a checklist, or numbers on a scale, rather we are ever changing, forever evolving, works in progress.”
“Audre Lorde was a self-described “black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet.”
Being a vocal activist she received several insults about her being a woman and about her race. I want to highlight this amazing woman who changed history in several ways and yet isn’t talked about today.”

Social Media
“Through my explorations, I have tried to portray various aspects of social media. On one side- social media can be addictive, deceptive- showing someone having a perfect life, and can also lead to cyberbullying. However, on the other hand, social media helps businesses grow in scale and help connect people across the world, with the tap of a button.”
“Much like the symbol of Yin-Yang, shows that ‘In the good there is bad, and in the bad there is good’, social media too has its blacks and whites, both equally important.
What it ultimately boils down to is maintaining that fine balance.”

Stereotypes
“We live in a world today where society has created images of what is “supposed to be”, and what is “not supposed to be”. The responsibility of living up to these “perfect images” has been conveniently bestowed upon us all. These unjust stereotypes make us set toxic standards for ourselves, and restrict us from being our true selves.
My artworks attempt to break these gender, racial and cultural stereotypes, in order to make this world a better, just, and easier place to live in.”

Vintage
“The idea of living in a retro world has always been fascinating as well as an artistic inspiration for me. From fashion to furniture, comics to celebrities, I have attempted to dive into every facet of the vintage world and recreate it in a modern light using charcoal, acrylics, inks, craft and digital mediums.”
